Originally called Mount Salus, meaning "mountain of health," Clinton was known for its many refreshing healthful springs. Clinton is located in the middle of the largest urban area in the state and is now one of the fastest growing cities in Mississippi. Clinton Cemetery
Dating back to 1800 it is the oldest cemetery in central Mississippi and the burial site for families of pioneer settlers, college presidents and Confederate soldiers. Located at 500 College Street, it is open year round daily, dawn to dusk. Call 601-924-5912 for more information.

Clinton Community Nature Center
Enjoy two miles of all-weather, slag covered trails while viewing hundreds of species of native trees and shrubs on this 32 acres of land near Olde Towne Clinton. The Nature Center also contains a 100-seat amphitheater, an educational kiosk, and a butterfly garden. In addition, newly constructed Price Hall houses a welcome center and gift shop.

Jackson Zoo
The Jackson Zoo near Clinton, was founded in 1919, and houses one of the finest collections of wild animals from throughout the world. Latimer House

Mississippi College
Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is one of the oldest institutes of higher learning in Mississippi. It was the first college in the U.S. to graduate women. Located at 200 South Capitol Street. Call 601-925-3000 for more information.

Old Town Clinton
Enjoy shopping alongside tree-shaded old brick streets. There are many historic homes and buildings and lots of great specialty shops.

Provine Chapel
Found on the campus of Mississippi College, the chapel was spared from the torch by General William T. Sherman, and served as a hospital, while the basement sheltered Union horses. Robinson Spring
In the 1800s, the Clinton area was noted for its many healthful springs. Robinson Spring served as the city's main water source until 1925. Located on the home site of the president of Mississippi College at 301A Old Spring Road. Call 601-924-5912 for more information.

The Cedars
Circa 1835, this Greek Revival home is one of the oldest in Hinds County. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is privately owned and is just blocks from Mississippi College. Located at 405 East College Street in Clinton MS. Best Western lodging is nearby.
